Thank you for visiting our Washington Intermediate School website!
My name is Erin Johnson and I am completing my first year as principal here at Washington. I was born and raised in Pekin and graduated from PCHS in 1999. I attended Bradley University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I then continued my education with two Master of Arts degrees from St. Xavier University: Teaching and Leadership and my Administrative Type 75.
My educational experiences include 11 years of teaching third grade in multiple districts, 5 years as an Instructor or Student Support and Learning, and now 5 years as an Administrator with 4 years being the Assistant Principal at Central Primary School in Washington and completing this last year as Principal at WIS. It is wonderful to be an educational leader back in D108.
On a personal note, I have a blended family structure sharing 5 children, two whom have been students at D108 and my partner is also a school administrator at the high school level. I am excited and invigorated to begin another year at Washington Intermediate School. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our families, staff and students here . We are proud to be Warriors and work hard each day to live out our Washington Warrior Way: We are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!
Hello everyone! My name is Jake Norman and I am starting my first year at Washington Intermediate School as the Assistant Principal. I am so excited to begin this new adventure alongside our staff, students, and families.
Prior to moving to WIS, I spent the past 16 years teaching social studies at Broadmoor Jr. High School here in Pekin. While teaching at Broadmoor, I was also able to spend a great deal of time coaching a variety of athletic teams, from cross country, to basketball, baseball, track, and volleyball.
I was born and raised right here in Pekin and am a proud District 108 and District 303 graduate! (Go Dragons!) I then earned a Bachelors Degree in Marketing from North Central College in Naperville. Following a brief time substitute teaching, I resumed my education at Bradley University in Peoria, where I obtained a second Bachelors Degree in Education. From Bradley, I continued my education at St. Xavier University, obtaining my Master Degree in School Administration, which leads me to my new position here at WIS.
My wife Danica, also a teacher at Broadmoor, and I, were just blessed with our first child, a little girl, this past February of 2024. The three of us are so excited to join the WIS family!
We Are Responsible We Are Respectful We Are Safe We Are Warriors!
